Surrey Place, one of Ontario’s most respected organizations supporting people of all ages with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder and visual impairments, is seeking a Vice President, Finance to lead the organization through an important and exciting period of change and growth. Serving over 10,000 clients and families each year, Surrey Place is entering a new chapter defined by innovation, fiscal sustainability, and the evolution of its service delivery and revenue models.
Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a key member of the Executive Team, the VP Finance will shape the financial strategy for the entire organization, steering Surrey Place toward a balanced fiscal position by FY27 and enabling its transition to a mixed funding model that includes fee‑for‑service growth. You will oversee all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, reporting, audit, and financial operations, while building a stronger foundation for financial literacy, performance accountability, and informed decision making across programs. This is a highly visible role with deep interaction across the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCSS), the Board of Directors, and internal clinical and business leaders.
You will lead a talented and evolving finance team, strengthening FP&A, optimizing processes and systems, and coaching leaders through organizational transformation. You will also work closely with the newly hired VP of Business Development to shape pricing strategies, assess program viability, model capacity, and scale paid-service offerings to ensure long‑term financial sustainability. Your ability to blend commercial insight with mission alignment, and to communicate financial narratives in a clear and compelling way, will be fundamental to your success.
The ideal candidate is a CPA‑designated executive with senior leadership experience in both non-profit/public sector settings and revenue‑generating or fee‑for‑service environments. You are a steady, resilient leader with strong political acuity, experience working with government funders, and a proven ability to guide organizations through change. You bring exceptional communication skills, strong relationship‑building instincts, and the ability to inspire confidence with the Board, ministry partners, and staff at all levels.
