Chief Executive Officer, Ontario Energy Association

Hybrid

Ontario’s energy landscape is undergoing profound change. Growing demand, electrification, industrial expansion, infrastructure investment and the transition to a lower-carbon economy are creating both significant challenges and extraordinary opportunities.

The Ontario Energy Association (OEA) is seeking a President & Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization through its next chapter and strengthen its position as one of the province’s most credible, influential and trusted voices on energy.

The OEA brings together leaders from across electricity, natural gas, renewable energy, energy technology, infrastructure and related services. Through advocacy, networking and education, the Association connects industry with government, regulators and other stakeholders to advance informed dialogue and practical solutions for Ontario’s energy future.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be the OEA’s principal external voice and ambassador, representing the collective interests of a diverse membership while maintaining the independence and credibility that underpin the organization’s influence.

The CEO will build trusted relationships with the Premier’s Office, Ministers, political staff, Deputy Ministers, public servants and regulators, while leading the OEA’s policy and advocacy agenda and ensuring industry perspectives are heard on issues critical to reliability, affordability, investment, electrification and economic competitiveness. They will engage directly with CEOs and senior leaders across the energy sector, understand diverse perspectives and identify areas of common interest. As the OEA’s principal external voice, the CEO will elevate the organization’s profile and influence as a respected, non-partisan source of energy-sector expertise and thought leadership. The CEO will also bring stakeholders together as a credible convener, facilitating dialogue and providing objective perspective on complex issues, while leading a high-performing team and overseeing the organization’s financial, operational and organizational management. Working closely with the Board, the CEO will provide strategic advice, ensure strong governance and respectfully challenge where appropriate.

The successful candidate will be an externally oriented, politically astute and highly credible leader who understands how government, public policy and the energy sector intersect. They will bring strong government and stakeholder relationships, meaningful knowledge of Ontario’s energy landscape and the executive presence to engage confidently with government, industry leaders, media and the broader public.

Just as importantly, they will be a natural relationship builder and convener, someone who can navigate competing interests, take a position when needed and represent the sector with credibility, independence and integrity. Experience in the Ontario energy sector is strongly preferred, although exceptional leaders from government, public policy, regulated industries or other provinces will be considered.
