EVP, Business Development, Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis Commission

Edmonton

Hybrid

The Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis Commission (AGLC) is the Government of Alberta’s Crown commercial enterprise responsible for regulating gaming, liquor, and recreational cannabis across the province. Operating at the intersection of public policy, regulation, and commercial enterprise, AGLC balances social responsibility and public safety with strong financial performance that supports provincial priorities. Through innovation, modernization, and a strong commitment to integrity, AGLC continues to evolve its operating model to respond to changing consumer expectations, technological advancement, and regulatory developments. With a province-wide footprint and a mandate that directly impacts communities across Alberta, AGLC plays a vital role in safeguarding public trust while enabling a competitive and sustainable marketplace.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Executive Vice President, Business Development holds one of the organization’s most influential leadership mandates. Responsible for a portfolio that generates more than $2 billion in annual revenue and supports over 400 employees, the EVP plays a critical role in shaping the future of some of Alberta’s most visible and highly regulated industries. The EVP will balance strategic growth, stakeholder engagement, operational excellence, and public accountability while identifying new opportunities to enhance customer experience. This role offers a rare opportunity to influence industry direction, drive meaningful business transformation, and help define the next chapter of AGLC’s evolution as it advances major initiatives in gaming modernization, lottery performance, liquor pricing reform, and the future of cannabis distribution.

The ideal candidate is a commercially minded and politically astute executive who combines strategic vision with the ability to lead a complex, customer-facing business at scale. They will bring a track record of leading large, complex organizations through growth, transformation, and operational improvement, coupled with the judgment and credibility to succeed in a highly regulated environment. An engaging and collaborative leader, they excel at building high-performing teams, fostering accountability, and influencing diverse stakeholders, from government officials and industry partners to customers and employees. Above all, the successful candidate will be equally comfortable shaping long-term strategy and translating it into measurable business outcomes, bringing a balance of innovation, customer focus, and public-sector stewardship to one of Alberta's most impactful executive leadership roles.
