Board Governors - Sheridan College

Since its founding in 1967, Sheridan College has been a leader in creativity, academic excellence, and delivering a distinctive student experience. Known for its pioneering, globally ranked animation program and a strong commitment to inclusivity and innovation, it has built a longstanding reputation as a uniquely forward-thinking institution serving 27,000 students and 4,500 faculty and staff across three dynamic campuses.

Today, Sheridan College is well-equipped to navigate a critical inflection point in a rapidly evolving and increasingly complex landscape. By leveraging its reputation for academic quality and innovation, and by continuing to develop novel programs, services, resources, and experiences that reflect the needs of diverse learners, Sheridan College is well-positioned to deepen its ties to the workforce, address urgent societal challenges, and generate new revenue streams that ensure long-term financial sustainability and institutional growth.

The Sheridan College Board of Governors has responsibility for the stewardship of Sheridan by establishing appropriate governance and risk management strategies to ensure the institution's strategic objectives and outcomes are met, its assets are protected, and its long-term growth and sustainability are assured. The Board delegates responsibility for general management and supervision of the affairs and operations of Sheridan to the President.

The Board is seeking additional engaged, collaborative, and strategic individuals to serve as external Governors. The Board values the diversity inherent in Sheridan’s home communities and is seeking to broaden its geographic reach as it remains committed to the demographics, perspectives and needs of its stakeholders. Due to four upcoming vacancies, the Board has identified governance, finance (CPA), fundraising and development, human resources and people leadership, technology, post-secondary/public sector experience and certain professional attributes as core requirements for consideration to complement their current board of accomplished individuals.

This is a publicly advertised job posting for an existing vacancy. The positions are voluntary in nature.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Sheridan recognizes the land on which we gather has been and still is the traditional territory of several Indigenous nations, including the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Wendat, the Métis, and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Since time immemorial, numerous Indigenous nations and Indigenous peoples have lived and passed through this territory. Sheridan affirms it is our collective responsibility to honour the land, as we honour and respect those who have gone before us, those who are here, and those who have yet to come. We are grateful for the opportunity to be learning, working, and thriving on this land.

Sheridan values the diverse and intersectional identities of its students, faculty, and staff. Sheridan regards equity and diversity as an integral part of academic excellence and is committed to accessibility for all employees. Sheridan seeks applicants who embrace our values of equity, anti-racism, and inclusion. As such, we encourage applications from qualified candidates who have been historically disadvantaged and marginalized, including those who identify as First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit/Inuk, Black, members of racialized communities, persons with disabilities, women and/or 2SLGBTQ+.
