Supporting child and youth mental health is one of the most powerful ways to strengthen the wellbeing of families and communities across Ontario. Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO) represents Ontario’s publicly funded, community-based child and youth mental health centers. With 85 member organizations operating across every region of the province, CMHO works to ensure that infants, children, youth, and families receive timely and effective mental health care. Services provided through member agencies include targeted prevention, early intervention, counselling and therapy, addictions services, intensive services, and acute care. CMHO’s strength comes from collaboration among providers, youth, families, and partners.

 

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is the operational head of CMHO and is responsible for all CMHO activities, services, financial affairs, risk management and results in accordance with related legislation, and the By-laws and policies of CMHO in accordance with its vision and mission. The CEO fosters the values of the organization and provides leadership, counsel and guidance in planning and directing CMHO, implementing the strategic plan and maintaining effective relations between CMHO and its member agencies and with external stakeholders. The CEO represents CMHO and sets the tone for the organization internally as well as publicly.

 

The ideal candidate for this impactful leadership opportunity is an accomplished and values driven senior leader with the judgment, presence, and credibility to advance the CMHO’s mission and influence within a complex public policy environment.  They are a trusted relationship builder and effective advocate, skilled at engaging government, member organizations, and partners, and translating system level challenges into innovative solutions and clear strategic direction. Collaborative and politically astute, the successful candidate brings integrity, and empathy, paired with operational and financial acumen with the ability to lead high performing teams, manage risk and resources responsibly, and guide the organization while strengthening its impact, and long-term sustainability.
