Today, Spare partners with 200+ cities across four continents, supporting tens of thousands of rides each day. Following a recent $42M Series B led by Inovia Capital, the company is entering its next phase of growth and is looking for a Vice President, People to help scale the organization and strengthen its high-performance culture.

 

The Opportunity

 

This is a pivotal leadership role at a company with strong momentum and meaningful impact.

 

As Vice President, People, you will partner closely with the founders and executive team to define and scale Spare’s people strategy. You will build the systems, structures, and leadership practices that enable the company to attract exceptional talent, maintain high performance, and support teams as they grow.

 

You will oversee the full People function—from performance management and compensation to engagement, leadership development, and workforce planning—while building the infrastructure needed for a fast-growing global technology company.

What You’ll Do

 

Build and Scale the People Strategy

Own Spare’s end-to-end People strategy across performance management, compensation, engagement, learning and development, and workforce planning

Establish clear frameworks for career progression, promotions, and performance expectations across the organization

Ensure People practices evolve with the company’s growth and remain aligned with best-in-class HR and People Operations practices

 

Create Scalable Systems and Infrastructure

Lead the development of scalable People systems and processes including HRIS, performance reviews, onboarding, and compensation structures

Build data-informed processes that increase transparency and improve the employee and manager experience

Establish consistent operating rhythms such as feedback cycles, calibration sessions, and leadership coaching

 

Strengthen a High-Performance Culture

Champion Spare’s feedback-driven, high-expectation culture through systems, leadership behaviours, and clear standards

Partner with founders and executives on organizational design, succession planning, and talent strategy

Ensure high-performing employees are continuously challenged, supported, and retained

 

Lead and Grow the People Team

Build and develop a high-performing People and Talent team that can scale alongside the business

Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and impact within the function

Support the continued development of Spare’s collaborative, ego-free workplace culture

 

Influence Across the Organization

Communicate clearly with leadership, managers, and employees on People priorities and initiatives

Build alignment across departments to support the company’s growth and evolving organizational needs

Present People insights and metrics to the executive team and board to inform strategic decisions

 

What You Bring

Significant experience leading People or HR functions within a high-growth technology company or startup environment

Deep expertise in people operations, performance management, compensation design, and HR systems

A track record of building and scaling high-performing People teams

Strong executive presence with the ability to influence founders, senior leaders, and managers

Comfort operating in a fast-paced, feedback-driven environment with high expectations

A thoughtful, systems-oriented approach to building scalable organizational infrastructure
