Chief Executive Officer, Electricity Canada

Ottawa

Hybrid

This is a rare opportunity to lead at the forefront of one of Canada’s most critical sectors during a period of profound transformation. Electricity Canada is the national voice for a safe, secure, and sustainable electricity system, representing a highly diverse membership spanning generation, transmission, distribution, and emerging energy technologies. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will shape the strategic direction of the Association and champion the collective interests of Canada’s electricity industry at a pivotal moment for the country’s economic, environmental, and energy future.

The CEO will lead the development and execution of a forward-looking strategy that advances affordability, grid reliability, and long-term infrastructure investment. This includes driving national advocacy efforts with the federal government on electricity affordability, advancing tax and financing mechanisms to support grid modernization and resilience, and strengthening cross-border electricity collaboration between Canada and the United States. The CEO will also play a central role in shaping a cohesive East-West electricity vision, engaging governments and regulators to enable greater interprovincial connectivity and investment.

As the principal spokesperson for the Association, the CEO will represent Electricity Canada with federal, provincial, and territorial governments, regulators, industry partners, and the media. They will elevate the profile of the Association as the authoritative and trusted voice of the sector, influencing public policy on climate adaptation, infrastructure resilience, cybersecurity, and the evolving regulatory landscape. The CEO will also foster strong relationships across a complex membership base, building consensus on shared priorities while navigating diverse regional and commercial interests.

Working closely with the Board, the CEO will ensure effective governance, financial stewardship, and organizational performance. They will lead and develop a high-performing team, strengthen internal leadership capabilities, and enhance a culture grounded in collaboration, innovation, and service excellence. The CEO will continuously assess emerging risks and opportunities—from severe weather events to evolving market structures—ensuring that Electricity Canada and its members remain resilient, competitive, and well-positioned for the future.
