Ontario Tech University seeks an exceptional Vice-President, Advancement to help shape the future of one of Canada’s most dynamic and differentiated universities. Reporting to the President and Vice-Chancellor and serving as a member of the senior leadership team, the Vice-President will play a pivotal role in advancing an institution uniquely poised for today and accelerating toward tomorrow – one defined by its commitment to Tech with a Conscience, where innovation, ethical leadership, and societal impact converge to address the opportunities and challenges of a rapidly changing world. Working collaboratively with the Chancellor, Vice-Presidents, Deans, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and community partners, the Vice-President will champion Ontario Tech’s academic, research, and innovation priorities while elevating the university’s profile, influence, and philanthropic impact.

 

The Vice-President will provide strategic leadership for an integrated advancement and alumni enterprise, with oversight spanning philanthropy and development, alumni engagement, stewardship, advancement operations, donor relations, and partnership development. Serving as a key ambassador for the university, the successful candidate will cultivate transformational relationships with major, principal, and emerging philanthropic partners while identifying new opportunities for philanthropic growth and community engagement. This is an exceptional opportunity to build on significant institutional momentum and represent a university on an exciting upward trajectory redefining how technology can serve humanity, mobilizing support for student success, research excellence, and innovation with real-world impact.

 

The ideal candidate will be a visionary, energetic, collaborative, and results-oriented relationship-builder and leader with significant experience in advancement, fund development, campaign leadership, and donor engagement. They will possess a strong track record of securing major philanthropic gifts, building high-performing teams, and fostering productive relationships with diverse stakeholders. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, coupled with the ability to inspire confidence, trust, and commitment among donors, alumni, volunteers, faculty, staff, and community partners, will be essential. Experience cultivating relationships within technology, innovation, energy, or industry sectors would be an asset. Lastly, a passion for higher education and research innovation and a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation will position the successful candidate to help shape the next chapter of Ontario Tech’s growth, impact, and success.
