Accredited by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), the School combines academic rigor with practical, real-world learning opportunities that connect students with industry, community, and experiential learning. Building on a proud history of graduate success and supported by a highly engaged community of faculty, staff, alumni, and partners, the School is entering an exciting new phase of growth. The opening of the new 35,000-square-metre Triffo School of Business building in January of 2027 will further enrich MacEwan's vibrant downtown campus, creating dynamic spaces for learning, collaboration, innovation, and community engagement while supporting the School's continued growth and impact across Edmonton, Alberta, and beyond.

 

Reporting to the Provost & Vice-President, Academic, the Dean provides strategic, academic, and operational leadership to one of MacEwan University's largest and fastest-growing academic units. The Dean will advance a compelling vision for the School that builds on its reputation for teaching excellence, student success, community engagement, and growing scholarship. As a member of the University's senior leadership team, the Dean will guide the School through a period of significant growth and transformation, strengthening its academic programs, fostering excellence in teaching, experiential learning, and research, and championing a culture that is collaborative, inclusive, and student-centred. A visible and engaged ambassador for the School, the Dean will cultivate meaningful relationships with industry, government, alumni, donors, and community partners to enhance the School's profile and reputation. As a champion for the Triffo School of Business, the Dean will articulate a compelling vision for the School, amplify its distinctive strengths, and strengthen its brand and reputation as a leading business school with deep connections to industry and community.

 

The successful candidate will have a strong record of teaching, scholarship, and service to qualify for an appointment as a full professor; with a demonstrated record of progressive leadership experience within a complex university environment. They will be a strategic and future-focused leader who can advance long-term priorities, identify opportunities for growth and partnership, and guide a dynamic School through growth and change while building trust, alignment, and a strong sense of community. The ideal candidate will lead with integrity, foster meaningful relationships, communicate with authenticity and transparency, and effectively advocate for the interests of the School and University. With strong strategic and financial acumen, exceptional communication skills, and a deep commitment to student success, and faculty and staff engagement, the next Dean will drive innovation, elevate the School's distinctive reputation and external profile, and position the Triffo School of Business for continued success and impact.
